Kevin Nelson

Slammers Catching Specific Skills Coach Kevin Nelson graduated from Rolling Meadows High School and was recruited to play for the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was mentored by Slammers Instructor of former UIC Coach Scott Stahoviak. Kevin was signed in 2003 by the Yankees, has also played in the Blue Jays system and now plays for the Phillies organization. Kevin's love of the game and his desire to see baseball played the way it should be played has given him the motivation to share his professional experience and knowledge with local youth players so they can perform to the best of their ability. While playing in the various MLB organizations, Kevin has had the opportunity to catch each of the following pitchers: Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettite and Brad Lidge. Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Slammers.
