Slammers Pitching Coach Jim Sakas' Group Pitching Clinics

Slammers is proud to bring local teams the opportunity to work in a comfortable group/team atmosphere with Pitching Coach Jim Sakas.  Clinics will be run on Monday or Wednesday Evenings and Saturday or Sunday during the day.  Camps are recommended for 4 weeks of 1-Hour Clinic Sessions each week.  Each Group Session is designed for anywhere between 2-8 pitchers, and will develop each participant's fundamental throwing mechanics, multiple pitches/grips and how to efficiently increase velocity and accuracy without risking potential injury.

Jim has been coaching baseball for over 25 years and is the son of legendary local pitching coach Steve Sakas.  After his playing days as a Pitcher at Illinois State University, he was named the Head Baseball Coach at Niles North H.S. at the age of 23 years old.  After 17 years as Head Coach, Jim resigned to spend more time with his family.  He retired as the winningist Coach in school history which included conference and regional Championship teams including his 1991 team which finished with 28 wins to only 6 losses and a # 2 ranking in the state of Illinois.

Jim is also the Pitching Coach of Christian Friedrich, a 2008 1st Round Draft Pick by the Colorado Rockies, former college Division 1 All-American and currently the # 1 Prospect in the Major Leagues.  Jim serves as an Associate Scout for the Baltimore Orioles, and has 12 pitchers on Division 1 Rosters and have had 2 players selected in the 2009 MLB Draft last June (Scott Kelley - Kansas City Royals, Hersey H.S. & John Nasshan - Chicago Cubs, Niles West H.S.).  Two of Jim's current 2010 clients have already accepted Collegiate Athletic Scholarships.
