Justin was born and raised in Antigo, WI where he attended Antigo Senior High and graduated in 2002. After high school, Justin attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, IA taking his team to the JUCO world series in 2003 - where they finished 4th in the nation. After his freshman year, Justin was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 43rd round as a draft and follow. During the summer of 2003 he played for the Wisconsin Woodchucks winning the Northwoods League championship. The following year Justin attended Triton Junior College in River Grove, IL.

After having a solid year, Justin decided to sign with the Yankees - and his team won the Rookie League championship in 2004 and the New York Penn League championship in 2005. After almost 2 years with the Yankees, Justin was traded to the Chicago Cubs for outfielder Matt Lawton. Justin spent 7 seasons with the Cubs organization, making his MLB debut in 2009 and pitched for parts of 3 seasons with the Major League club. In 2012 Justin signed with the Colorado Rockies organization, where he played until 2014. In the summer of 2014, Justin signed with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League where he spent the last 2 seasons. Throughout his 12 year professional career Justin has played at almost every level including having played in the Arizona Fall League, Venezuela, Italy, and the Major Leagues.
