Tyler a Lake Bluff native graduated IMG Academy in 2017 playing for the National team under coach Chris Sabo (Cincinnati Reds.) The Ascenders finished the season 21-5. Tyler led the team in all offensive stats and earned the hitter of the year for IMG. Tyler was nominated and voted in to play on the 39th Annual FACA All-Star Game where Florida's top high school baseball players perform. Tyler was rostered on the West team and was awarded MVP.
After graduating IMG Academy, Tyler was selected and signed with the Boston Red Sox in the 7th Round of the 2017 MLB draft. With 3 years of Professional baseball under his belt at only 20 years old, Tyler is ranked amongst Boston’s top 25 prospects. Most recently finishing his season with the Salem Red Sox. Esplin spent 100 games in Full-A with the Greenville Drive and two more in Advanced-A Salem Red Sox last season. As a left-handed hitter he had a .253 average with 26 doubles and five home runs. Meanwhile, he drove in 43 runs and scored 52 more, stealing six bases. Esplin also got to play in the playoffs in Advanced-A. In four games with the Salem Red Sox, he hit .250 (4-for-16) with a double and two home runs, driving in four runs and scoring four more.
During his offseason he has helped coach fall ball teams and provides hitting lessons. His goal is to teach players how to maximize their full potential.
